Why Timetome Water Coloring Books?

Timetome's water coloring books use only water — no paint, ink, or markers required — so kids can "paint" hidden pictures across three themed books (Fairy Tale, Animals, Dinosaurs) without any mess to clean up afterward. Each book holds 10 reusable pages that dry and fade back to blank in 5–10 minutes, ready for the next round. The flagship 3-pack ships with a wide brush plus refillable water pens and is the line's real multi-market seller — sold under its own real listing in the US, UK and Germany. In the US, Timetome also sells a second real version aimed at slightly older kids (ages 3–6) with three individual water pens instead of a shared brush — the two differ mainly in included tools and the age range on the packaging, not in the core water-reveal concept.

Built Around Real Mess-Free Play

What actually shows up in Timetome's own product listings.

01

Only Water, No Paint or Ink

Every book works with plain water in a refillable pen or brush — no paint, ink, or markers ever touch the page, so there's nothing to stain hands, clothes, or furniture.

02

Reusable, Not Disposable

Colored pages dry and fade back to blank within 5–10 minutes, so each of the 10 pages per book can be painted again and again instead of being used once and thrown away.

03

Hidden Pictures on Every Page

Each page hides a picture that only appears as water touches it, turning coloring into a small discovery rather than just filling in lines.

04

Travel-Ready & Kid-Safe

Thick, durable pages with rounded edges and a compact case size are built to survive car rides, restaurants, and everyday toddler handling.

The compact case size slides into a backpack, diaper bag, or car door pocket, so it travels as easily as it plays at home — built for restaurants, road trips, and waiting rooms as much as the living room floor.

What Timetome Customers Are Saying

★★★★★
Family favorite!

Including a brush and two pens was great. These books are fun for me and my toddler. They are many pages to color. Its a family favorite!

★★★★★
No mess

Perfect no mess to keep little ones occupied.

Fun and engaging, but the foam material is quite fragile

The concept behind these books is excellent, and they are incredibly fun for kids! The set comes as a three-pack, and each book includes its own individual water pen. They are made out of foam, which unfortunately makes them a bit flimsy and easy to tear depending on how rough your child is with them — mine actually arrived with a rip on the front cover. That being said, there are hidden shapes and figures that children get to discover as they color, which really sparks their curiosity.

Fun, mess-free coloring books for toddlers

These coloring books are great. Each book has multiple pages, so kids can keep flipping through and coloring for a long time. They come with refillable pens you simply fill with water. Kids don't have to stay within the lines, so it's a fun and stress-free activity — especially nice for travel. The only issue I noticed is that the pens start working a little less well after being refilled a few times; dipping the tip in water first fixes it.

Great screen-free activity

I have two young daughters, and these reusable water coloring books have become one of my favorite low-mess activities. The three different themes keep things interesting. They're especially great for travel — we've taken them to restaurants, in the car, and to appointments. The pages are sturdy enough to hold up to enthusiastic toddler use.

The three year old approves

This 3-pack provides a brilliant, zero-mess creative activity for toddlers. The thick cardboard pages resist warping or tearing, even when enthusiastic toddlers apply a bit too much water. The fairy tale and animal illustrations are cute and filled with fun details for young minds to discover as they paint.

Frequently Asked Questions

No — every Timetome water coloring book works with plain water only. The pages are treated so that water alone reveals color; there's no paint, ink, or dye in the pens themselves, which is why there's nothing to stain hands, clothes, or furniture.
Colors typically fade back to blank within 5–10 minutes after painting, depending on how much water was used. Once a page dries out, it's ready to be painted again — the same 10 pages per book can be reused indefinitely.
The 3-pack flagship set (sold in the US, UK and Germany) includes 2 refillable water pens plus 1 wide brush and is labeled for toddlers 1–3, though the content suits kids up to 6. The US-exclusive Ages 3-6 version includes 3 individual water pens (one per book) instead of a shared brush. Both include the same 3 themed books and the same water-reveal concept.
Reviewers report success from around 18 months through about age 6 — younger toddlers need some help filling and aiming the pen, while preschoolers can use it fully independently. One reviewer noted their 4-year-old was starting to outgrow the pace of the smaller pages.
Reviews are mostly positive on durability, describing thick, sturdy pages that hold up to repeated use — but one reviewer received a copy with a torn cover and described the foam-based pages as flimsy if handled roughly, so treat it as sturdy for normal use rather than indestructible.
Yes — each pen unscrews for refilling with plain tap water. A few reviewers mention the pens can start drawing more faintly after repeated refills; dipping the tip briefly in water before use restores flow.
The flagship 3-pack includes 3 water coloring books (Fairy Tale, Animals, Dinosaurs), 2 refillable water pens, and 1 wide brush. The US-exclusive Ages 3-6 version includes the same 3 books with 3 individual water pens instead.
Yes — reviewers specifically highlight using these in cars, restaurants, and on planes, since there's no loose paint or ink that can spill. The main travel consideration is bringing a small amount of water for the pens.
Yes — each page has a picture that only becomes visible as water touches the page, so painting doubles as a small discovery activity rather than just filling in pre-drawn lines.
Yes — unlike most of Timetome's other product lines, the flagship 3-pack water coloring set is sold under its own real listing in the US, UK and Germany. The Ages 3-6 version was only found listed in the US at the time of writing.
